ROAD TRAUMA SERVICES QUEENSLAND INC.
A Road Trauma Support Team was first established in Launceston, Tasmania, in 1989, to respond to an
unmet need in the aftermath of road trauma incidents. It was recognised that those involved in road
trauma, whether directly or indirectly, frequently experienced emotional and psychological trauma. This
trauma could be relieved by the support of those who have experienced a similar experience, through
information sharing or professional counselling.
A Road Trauma Support Team commenced in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1994.
Road Trauma Services Queensland began as a committee in August 2002, when a group of concerned individuals, with direct experience of road trauma, teamed with professionals working in the area to provide a free, confidential counselling service to those affected in our community.
RTSQ is a registered incorporate body, based on the Sunshine Coast, and is approved as an income tax exempt charity.
